Simian præsenterer Microcosm Macrocosm, en talk med arkitektur- og mediehistoriker Reinhold Martin. Arrangementet finder sted i kunstneren Dan Grahams skulpturelle pavillon, Big Loop Becoming A Small Loop (2015), der ligger i Byparken i Ørestad.

Det er gratis at deltage i arrangementet og alle er velkomne. Der vil være medbragte stole at sidde i, samt forfriskninger til rådighed.

I samtalen zoomer Martin ud fra det specifikke ved Irma Hünerfauths Fluxus- og kybernetiske kunst, som kan ses på Simian, til omfanget af de omkringliggende infrastrukturer og de urbane og sociale forhold i Ørestad til det fremherskende neoliberale regime og den vedvarende indflydelse af global systemtænkning.

Som en del af udstillingerne Irma Hünerfauth - Speaking Boxes i dialog med Planned City Cinema er talken organiseret og modereret af Elisa R. Linn og Lennart Wolff.

Reinhold Martin er arkitektur- og mediehistoriker, professor i arkitektur på Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation på Columbia University og kommende formand for Columbias Committee on Global Thought. På Columbia har Martin også ledet Temple Hoyne Buell Center for American Architecture fra 2008 til 2021, og han har været formand for Society of Fellows / Heyman Center for the Humanities. Han var med til at grundlægge tidsskriftet Grey Room, og hans bøger omfatter The Organizational Complex: Architecture, Media, and Corporate Space (MIT, 2003); Utopia's Ghost: Architecture and Postmodernism, Again (Minnesota, 2010); The Urban Apparatus: Mediapolitics and the City (Minnesota, 2016); og Knowledge Worlds: Media, Materiality, and Making of the Modern University (Columbia, 2021).

Simian is pleased to present Microcosm Macrocosm, a talk with historian of architecture and media Reinhold Martin. The event takes place at the artist Dan Graham's sculptural pavilion, Big Loop Becoming A Small Loop (2015), located at Byparken in Ørestad.

The event is free to attend and everyone is welcome. Chairs will be provided and refreshments will be available.

In the talk, Martin zooms out from the specifics of Irma Hünerfauth's Fluxus and cybernetic art, on view at Simian, to the scale of the surrounding infrastructures and the urban and social conditions of Ørestad to the prevailing neoliberal regime and the enduring influence of global systems thinking.

As part of the exhibitions Irma Hünerfauth - Speaking Boxes in dialogue with Planned City Cinema, the talk is organized and moderated by Elisa R. Linn and Lennart Wolff.

Reinhold Martin is a historian of architecture and media, Professor of Architecture in the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation at Columbia University, and incoming chair of Columbia’s Committee on Global Thought. Also at Columbia, Martin directed the Temple Hoyne Buell Center for American Architecture from 2008 to 2021, and has chaired the Society of Fellows / Heyman Center for the Humanities.
