The publication Simian 2020-2025 documents the first five years of the artist-run institution Simian in Copenhagen. Edited by Paola Paleari and designed by Andreas Peitersen, the volume is thought as a comprehensive archive of the activities and ideas that have shaped Simian as a space for art production and mediation.

Simian celebrates the release of the publication with a three-week open house, bringing together performances, artist films, and works from the exhibition space’s history.

Marking a moment of reflection on Simian’s activities and the artistic collaborations that have shaped the institution, the publication Simian 2020-2025 revisits the comprehensive exhibition history while looking towards the future. Extending the publication into the physical space, the open house brings together traces of Simian’s programme, alongside new artistic interventions.

A selection of artist films will be presented in Simian’s cinema, while the office will host an informal display of selected, donated, and forgotten works and objects from previous exhibitions. Together, these contributions offer a fragmented and personal perspective on the activities, encounters, and artistic relationships that have unfolded at Simian over the years.

The publication will be available for purchase at a special reduced price during the opening night.

Publikationen Simian 2020–2025 dokumenterer de første fem år af den kunstnerdrevne institution Simian i København. Udgivelsen er redigeret af Paola Paleari og designet af Andreas Peitersen og fungerer som et omfattende arkiv over de aktiviteter og idéer, der har formet Simian som et rum for kunstproduktion og formidling.

Simian fejrer udgivelsen af publikationen med tre ugers åbent hus, der præsenterer performances, kunstfilm og værker fra udstillingsstedets historie.

Publikationen Simian 2020–2025 markerer et nedslag og en bredere refleksion over Simians aktiviteter og de kunstneriske samarbejder, der har præget institutionen. Publikationen ser tilbage på Simians omfattende udstillingshistorie, og retter samtidig blikket mod fremtiden. Publikationen udvides i det fysiske rum og samler spor fra Simians program sammen med nye kunstneriske interventioner.

Et udvalg af kunstfilm vises i Simians biograf, mens kontoret danner rammen om en uformel præsentation af udvalgte, donerede og glemte værker og genstande fra tidligere udstillinger. Tilsammen udgør dette et fragmenteret og personligt perspektiv på de aktiviteter, møder og kunstneriske relationer, der har udspillet sig på Simian gennem årene.

Publikationen vil kunne købes til en særlig nedsat pris til åbningen.
