Carsten Svalmark Live

Carsten Svalmark is a Copenhagen-based musician, founder of Gandalux Records and founding member of Danish artist collective, Borgermusik (Citizen Music). He primarily creates digital generative pieces influenced especially by IDM/braindance, drum 'n' bass and ambient.
Svalmark's music urges the listener to freely transition in and out of active and passive listening as one is naturally drawn into and out of feelings, thoughts, conversations and other impressions. The musical compositions are more or less prepared, but are all of generative nature and will therefore not strictly repeat the same rhythms and patterns, but be created by digital algorithms in the present. Similarly, Svalmark will improvise the composition, shape and sound of the pieces as he is inspired to in the moment in a form of conversation with his computer.
The music could be described as an exercise in being in the present, listening to our surroundings and letting go of control and distractions.
