Vinterjazz: Debre Damo Dining Orchestra

Vi skyder Vinterjazz 2027 i gang med en omgang ethio jazz når Debre Damo Dining Orchestra vender retur til Stengade.
Koncerten er en del af Vinterjazz Festival.

Debre Damo Dining Orchestra:
Inspired by the golden age of Ethio-jazz, DDDO was formed in 2013 with the ambition to explore and exploit the possibilities of the Ethiopian pentatonic scale further, which resulted in the debut single Yesega wat / Minem Eydelem the following year.
In 2016, DDDO released their first album, where they established their very own sound in the tension between Ethio-Jazz, Krautrock, Funk and Free Jazz with a trashy backyard aesthetic.

The debut album was well received and brought the band on tours in both Scandinavia and Germany and in 2026, three albums and approx. 60 concerts later, DDDO has proven to be one of Europe’s more persistent bands within the Ethio-Jazz genre.
After their 3rd album Vol 3, which featured more experimental excursions into the landscapes of sampling, DDDO is back in the groovy tracks of Ethio-Jazz with Vol 4, which was released in 2024, and the crew has been expanded with trumpet, guitar and two percussionists.

The Ethio-Jazz genre’s original sources of inspiration from American Funk and Jazz shine through clearly on DDDO Vol 4, but there is always room for psychedelic detours and wild improvisations.
