Mayhem Fundraiser: Refugee Support

This concert evening aims at gathering around new music from the cph experimental scene as well as raising financial support going to vulnerable Black people fleeing Ukraine and refugee families in Avnstrup Asylumcenter. All proceeds will be devided between the two causes. More info below:

In response to the war in Ukraine and the devastating consequences for civilian lives we are launching this fundraiser in support of vulnerable Black people escaping Ukraine. While the response from European countries to the Ukrainian immigration flow have shown a massive mobilization of assistance, reported cases of racism and discrimination towards Black people fleeing Ukraine sadly remains a pressing issue. In this regard we aim to raise financial support going directly to covering essential resources for vulnerable Black people immigrating from Ukraine.

Furthermore we want to raise the awareness of how the present situation has shown the hypocrisy in European discourse towards issues of immigration. Systemic racism and discrimination is especially still severely present in the Danish asylum system and immigration policies, and a new law has granted Ukranian asylum seekers temporary asylum, while people fleeing Syria, Palestine, and Afghanistan amongst other places are still being incarcerated in an undetermined amount of time in the Danish Asylum Centers. Half of the proceeds will go to Tirsdags gruppen Avnstrup, an activist group who are in contact with the resident refugee families in Avnstrup who are not allowed to work and earn their own money. Tirsdagsgruppen are doing their best to destribute financial support to anyone in need of coverage.
