Deres lyd er tryllebindende, mørk og storladen – som the Guardian skrev rosende om kvartetten: “Sometimes the human voice is all you need, communicating something essential about our drive to exist together as a species, to sound our internal worlds in union, at volume”.
“It is refreshing to find songs that challenge this power dynamic, but we are not totally hard-line about it, and sing plenty of old-fashioned love songs”, udtaler Ruth Clinton fra kvartetten.

In English:
Beneath the pale blue ceilings of St. John's Church, the quartet Landless will enchant us with beautiful vocal harmonies as they breathe new life into centuries-old songs. The concert is presented in collaboration with Final Descent.
The Irish quartet Landless consists of Lily Power, Méabh Meir, Ruth Clinton, and Sinéad Lynch. They found each other in Dublin’s traditional vocal scene, and since 2013, the four voices have blended in harmony to reinterpret old Irish ballads as well as newer folk songs from various sources. Their sound is mesmerizing, dark and majestic. As The Guardian wrote, praising the group: “Sometimes the human voice is all you need, communicating something essential about our drive to exist together as a species, to sound our internal worlds in union, at volume.” Expect goosebumps when the powerful voices of these four women fill Sankt Johannes Kirke this October.
In 2018, Landless released their critically acclaimed debut album ‘Bleaching Bones’, and in 2024 they followed up with ‘Lúireach’, which has also received glowing reviews. The album is full of quiet intensity, with traditional songs of melancholy, love, death, and mystery sung in new and unexpected ways, and sometimes with instrumental accompaniment. Many of the songs explore bold female characters who break away from the passive female archetype often found in traditional songs. “It is refreshing to find songs that challenge this power dynamic, but we are not totally hard-line about it, and sing plenty of old-fashioned love songs,” says Ruth Clinton of the quartet. Look forward to songs of both courage and devotion as Landless brings their captivating, moving, and powerful sound to Sankt Johannes Kirke.
