Valby Vokalgruppe skaber musik med udgangspunkt i stemmen. Deres musik udspringer af intenst fokus og dyb koncentration – og kombinerer ekstrem præcision med blødhed i en udforskning trance-agtige stemmemønstre og åbne, legende improvisationer. Til november udgiver de albummet SOLIDS FOR VOICES på det fransk/britiske label Hands in the Dark, og fejrer det med en releasekoncert på ALICE. Albummet består af kortere, koncentrerede stykker, som tilstræber en klar sindstilstand i en erkendelse af vigtigheden af at kunne koncentrere sig og holde fokus i en stadig mere fragmenteret og usammenhængende virkelighed.
Valby Vokalgruppe består af Lil Lacy, Sonja LaBianca, Laura Marie Madsen, Cæcilie Trier (som ikke optræder live for tiden) og Anja Jacobsen, som er gruppens leder. De arbejder alle som sangere, musikere og komponister og har medvirket i utallige projekter og samarbejder, f.eks. Selvhenter, a, frk. jacobsen, ilinx, LM Madsen, CTM, Sonja LaBianca, Lil Lacy og SOLW. Valby Vokalgruppe er desuden en del af det kreativt krydsbefrugtende kunstnerfællesskab eget værelse. Valby Vokalgruppe har komponeret 4 større tværæstetiske værker, som blandt andet har inkluderet dansere, klassiske sangere og projektion af tekst. Med albummet SOLIDS FOR VOICES er Valby Vokalgruppe tilbage ved udgangspunktet, nemlig ved en udforskning af stemmemønstre, der ved gentagelse transcenderer performere og publikum ind i anden verden.

Valby Vokalgruppe creates music rooted in the voice. Their work springs from intense focus and deep concentration combining extreme precision with softness in an exploration of trance-like vocal patterns and open, playful improvisations. This November, they will release the album SOLIDS FOR VOICES on the French/British label Hands in the Dark, marking the occasion with a release concert at ALICE. The album consists of shorter, concentrated pieces aiming to create a clear state of mind, recognizing the importance of sustaining attention and focus in an increasingly fragmented and incoherent reality.
Valby Vokalgruppe is made up of Lil Lacy, Sonja LaBianca, Laura Marie Madsen, Cæcilie Trier (currently not performing live), and Anja Jacobsen, the group’s leader. They all work as singers, musicians, and composers, and have participated in countless projects and collaborations, such as Selvhenter, a, frk. jacobsen, ilinx, LM Madsen, CTM, Sonja LaBianca, Lil Lacy, and SOLW. Valby Vokalgruppe is also part of the creatively cross-pollinating art collective eget værelse. The group has composed four large-scale cross-aesthetic works, which have included dancers, classical singers, and text projections. With SOLIDS FOR VOICES, Valby Vokalgruppe returns to their point of origin: Exploring vocal patterns that, through repetition, transcend both performers and audience into another world.
