Sylfide
På vokal, harpe og effektpedaler udfolder Sylfide kontrasterne mellem folketraditionens nostalgi og verden af i dag. Egne sange såvel som fortolkninger af gamle danske folkeviser finder plads i hendes univers, som GAFFA i en anmeldelse har vurderet »bør komme på det danske skoleskema.« Helene Dorthea Tungelund, den prisvindende folkesangeren, sangskriveren og harpenisten bag kunstneraliaset, har en krystalklar vokal og gribende sans for at fortælle historier. Om hun beretter om mytologiske fabeldyr, åbner op om egne sårbarheder eller synger om klimaangst, formår Sylfide at forbinde os til den danske kulturarv og til hinanden.
Vågspel
Med rødder i den västergötlandske sangskat, spiller Vågspel op til dans med både egne og overleverede melodier. Med hver sin violin under hagen får Alice Klint og Kristin Kennemark fortid og nutid til at mødes i et veloplagt, legende og folkemusikalsk udtryk, som kan sætte nærmest hvilket som helst rum i bevægelse. I deres sange samspil omfavner Vågspel både det sorgfyldte og det ekstatiske. Deres optrædener er præget af et tæt samspil, afledt af de to musikeres dybe venskab og gensidige hengivenhed, som kan mærkes hele vejen ud over scenekanten. I fællesskab sætter de musik til livets store følelser!
Vågspel udgav deres debutalbum, ‘Vågspel’ i 2017, og året efter blev de præmieret som årets nye navn på folk – og verdensmusikgallaen i Norrköping. Efterfølgeren, ‘I nöd og lust’ blev kåret som Årets Trad i 2022 af Lira Musikmagasin og duoen blev nomineret til en Grammis Awards (den svenske Grammy) i kategorien Årets Folkemusik 2023. I Danmark har Vågspel tidligere spillet på bl.a. Fanø Free Folk Festival (2023) og Folk Alliance i Roskilde (2024). Nu arbejder duoen på nyt materiale. Måske vi er så heldige at få noget af det at høre, når Vågspel gæster ALICE til foråret. En ting er dog sikkert: Fødderne kommer ikke til at stå stille og hjerterne kommer til at banke i takt!

Scandinavian folk traditions and modern emotions go hand in hand at ALICE. Join us for an evening where Danish artist Sylfide—the folk singer GAFFA insists belongs in the school curriculum—and the Swedish folk duo Vågspel, known for their captivating stage presence, bring Scandinavian legends and melodies to life through vocals, harp, and violins.
Sylfide
With vocals, harp, and sound effect pedals, Sylfide unfolds the contrasts between the nostalgia of folk traditions and the world of today. Her universe accommodates both original compositions and interpretations of old Danish folk songs—an approach that GAFFA has praised as something that "should be part of the Danish school curriculum." Helene Dorthea Tungelund, the award-winning folk singer, songwriter, and harpist behind the alias, possesses a crystal-clear voice and a gripping storytelling ability. Whether she sings of mythical creatures, shares personal vulnerabilities, or addresses climate anxiety, Sylfide creates connections between Denmark’s cultural heritage and with one another.
Vågspel
Rooted in the song traditions of Västergötland, Vågspel invites audiences to dance with both original and inherited melodies. With a violin tucked under each chin, Alice Klint and Kristin Kennemark bridge past and present in a spirited, playful folk expression capable of setting nearly any space in motion. Their musical interplay embraces both sorrow and euphoria, and their performances radiate the deep friendship and mutual devotion that extend beyond the stage itself. Together, they set music to life’s grand emotions.
Vågspel released their debut album, ‘Vågspel’, in 2017, and the following year, they were awarded "Newcomer of the Year" at the Folk and World Music Gala in Norrköping. Their follow-up album, ‘I nöd och lust’, was named Årets Trad (Traditional Album of the Year) in 2022 by Lira Musikmagasin and earned the duo a nomination for a Grammis Award (the Swedish Grammy) in the Folk Music of the Year category in 2023. Danish audiences have previously encountered Vågspel at events such as the Fanø Free Folk Festival (2023) and Folk Alliance in Roskilde (2024). Now, the duo is working on new material—perhaps we’ll be lucky enough to hear some of it when Vågspel visits ALICE this spring. One thing is certain: feet won’t stay still, and emotions will run high!
