Catcase is a six-piece doom-pop band that grew out of songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist Lasse B. Beck’s bedroom project. The project is the artistic culmination of years of tormented sensitivity, frustration, and self-reflection - a sound that balances raw nerve, manic intensity, and fragile authenticity. Lyrically, the songs circle around loss, longing, self-deception, self-hatred, selfishness, and fragile hope. In 2024, Lasse B. Beck (Syringe, The Love Coffin) and his brother Niclas Berg Christiansen (Shiver Less, The Road to Suicide) joined forces with Max Cosnier (Deadpan, Sanderson & the Charabancs), Josephine Alicia (Chopper), Jason Lee Cameron (Jane, Chopper), and Mathias Gørtz (Leizure, Tugboat, Sanderson & the Charabancs) to bring Beck’s songwriting to life. Their music draws on an eclectic palette: the Australasian post-punk lineage, sophisti-pop, jangle and dream pop, with signals from Spiritualized, The Go-Betweens, Rowland S. Howard, Xiu Xiu, Prefab Sprout, and My Bloody Valentine. At the same time, Catcase feel kinship with more recent outsiders such as Strange Ranger, Bleary Eyed, and Nyxy Nyx.
