Vestegns-Københavner-duoen Woodpecker kanaliserer halvfemserne og nuller-rockens dynamikker med inspiration fra bands som Queens Of The Stone Age, Nine Inch Nails og Soundgaarden. Lyden bliver spyttet ud gennem højtalerne af bassist, guitarist og sanger Sigurd Neimann og trommeslager Jacob Kystgaard. Til trods for at bandet kun består af to instrumenter, bliver lytteren ramt af en fokuseret og intens distorted baslyd samt dynamisk trommespil, tilsat fængende melodier med Neimanns eksplosive vokal i front.

Michael Ellis er et møde mellem to sagnomspundne skikkelser, der iklædt masker og jakkesæt udsætter deres lyttere for instrumentale ekskursioner til ukendte, farverige universer. Deres musik spænder bredt, men er gennemgående energisk og grandiøs i sit udtryk med inspiration fra metal, math-rock og spil-soundtracks.
Oktober 2018 udgav duoen debutalbummet Perfunctory. Metalized gav albummet 9 ud af 10 og skrev: “Perfunctory er et teknisk og ambitiøst instrumentalværk, med særlig fokus på guitarens vekslen mellem hurtige og knasende riffs, og atmosfæriske stemningsbilleder. [...] en plade man gerne vender tilbage til gang på gang.”
Perfunctory blev efterfulgt i maj 2020 da Michael Ellis udgav singlen 520 Minutes. Duoen arbejder i øjeblikket på deres anden fuldlængde udgivelse, Modern Heresy, der udkommer januar 2024.

The Copenhagen duo, Woodpecker, channels the dynamics of the '90s and '00s rock with inspiration from bands like Queens Of The Stone Age, Nine Inch Nails, and Soundgarden. The sound is propelled through the speakers by bassist, guitarist, and vocalist Sigurd Neimann, and drummer Jacob Kystgaard. Despite the band consisting of only two instruments, the listener is hit by a focused and intensely distorted bass sound along with dynamic drumming, infused with catchy melodies and Neimann's explosive vocals at the forefront.

Michael Ellis is the union of two fabled creatures who perform instrumental excursions to unknown, colorful realms, masks covering their faces. Their music is energetic and grandiose, with inspiration from heavy metal, math rock and game soundtracks.
October 11th 2018 marked the release date of the band’s debut album “Perfunctory”.
The metal-magazine Metalized reviewed the album with 9 of 10 stars, writing: “Perfunctory is a technical and ambitious instrumental piece, with special attention to the guitar alternating between fast, crunchy riffs, and atmospheric stretches [...] the kind of record you can return to time and time again.”
The duo released the single “520 Minutes” in May 2020 and is currently working on their second full-length album, which will be released in January of 2024.
