RESIDENCY ‘_______________________’

The culmination of a week’s research.

- An invitation by Institute of Interconnected Realities (IIR).

Institute of Interconnected Realities is a platform for decentralised choreography. Its output is largely research, performance and curation. In its function as a curator the strategy of IIR is to follow movements that have been initiated during past or present artistic processes, and not only curate already existing works.
S Rieser has been a close collaborator of the IIR over several years, creating the sound for multiple projects. With this invitation we gave agency to Rieser to develop on approaches that he has used in the making of these past performances.
curtlythomas is joining by invitation of Reiser and their contribution represents a welcomed expansion (and/or divergence) from the original work.

curtlythomas toys with how music is performed; engaging sonic-scientific techniques borrowed from dub and noise to disrupt and communicate in live music settings. At present, he is a recipient of the Loewe Foundation x Studio Voltaire Award - where he furthers his research into the notion of the underground.

S. Rieser is a British composer and sound designer. Over the last decade, his experimentation and output has manifested through numerous projects and collaborations. Recorded documentation and live presentation has been central to his process. Such settings are catalyst to Rieser’s curiosity in the dissolution of themes and form, expanding and questioning the role— and expectations, of the audience and performer.
