Final Descent Presents: 144.000 - Irene Bianco (it) + Tropico del Cancer (ec/dk)

Double concert with two composers and improvisers, each building otherworldly universes in their own way through a multitude of instruments. From Tropico Del Cancer's minimalist and poetic sound to Irene Bianco's organic, free percussion strokes. Both concerts take place in the beautiful acoustics of Metronomen's dome hall.

The concert is part of the 144,000 concert series, which is Final Descents’ series of intimate performances in the Metronome’s dome hall with limited capacity. The ticket price includes free tea.

Tropico Del Cancer (DK/EC:

Tropico Del Cancer's minimalist and poetic sound universe evokes the roots of the world and the magic of dreams. Through his many travels to the Andes Mountains, the Amazon rainforest, Lapland, and along the Ganges River, he has gathered a diversity of instruments and impressions.

Marimba, harmonicas, kalimbas, hammered dulcimer, synthesizers, and various percussion instruments come together in an organic landscape. It can be raw and acoustic or electronically processed, sometimes warm and groovy, other times beautifully chaotic or ethereal. Each concert is unique, often site-specific, and includes improvisation.

For this intimate performance, Tropico Del Cancer will occupy the small, dome-shaped room at Metronomen, closely surrounded by the audience. He will work with the room's lively acoustics, creating a collective, immersive blanket of soothing soundscapes.

Irene Bianco (IT)

Irene Bianco provides a visionary and experimental sound that pushes the boundaries of percussion in unexpected directions.

The live set includes vintage percussion instruments, objects, electronics, and field recordings that merge together, liberating an incredibly colorful and non-cliché instrumental music world.

The music has been described as sound poetry, where polyrhythms and fragmented melodies take the listener on a journey to explore the spontaneous and unconventional, leaving space for unpredictability and whimsy.

Irene Bianco is a percussionist, free improviser, and composer based in Copenhagen. She started playing the drum kit at an early age and later trained as a classical percussionist. Her musical influences span from baroque and orchestral music to 90s rock and club music.

In addition to her solo work, she is an active freelancer and a member of Damkapellet and Wolfskin Ensemble. Her debut solo album Kronblade was released in October 2024 on the London-based label Permanent Draft.

Tropico Del Cancers minimalistiske og poetiske lydunivers minder om verdens rødder og drømmenes magi. Gennem sine mange rejser til Andesbjergene, Amazonasskoven, Lapland og langs Gangesfloden har han samlet en mangfoldighed af instrumenter og indtryk.

Marimba, mundharmonikaer, kalimbaer, hamret dulcimer, synthesizere og forskellige percussioninstrumenter samles i et organisk landskab. Det kan være nøgent og akustisk eller elektronisk bearbejdet, nogle gange varmt og groovy, andre gange smukt kaotisk eller æterisk. Hver koncert er unik, ofte stedspecifik og inkluderer improvisation.

Til denne intime forestilling vil Tropico Del Cancer indtage det lille kuppelformede rum på Metronomen, tæt omgivet af publikum. Han vil arbejde med rummets livlige akustik og skabe et kollektivt fordybende tæppe af beroligende lydlandskaber.

Irene Bianco skaber et visionært og eksperimenterende lydunivers, der udfordrer grænserne for percussion og tager overraskende og uventede retninger. Hendes koncerter tager udgangspunkt i percussioninstrumenter fra hele verden, fundne objekter, elektronik og feltoptagelser, som smelter sammen og åbner op for en farverig og original musik, der føles både dybt organisk og andetverdslig.

Musikken er blevet beskrevet som lydpoesi, der, mellem polyrytmik og fragmenterede melodier, fører lytteren ud på en rejse gennem det spontane og ukonventionelle, samtidig med at der efterlades plads til både uforudsigelighed og legesyge.

Irene Bianco er percussionist, improvisatør og komponist, bosat i København. Hun begyndte at spille trommesæt som barn og blev senere uddannet som klassisk percussionist. Hendes musikalske inspirationer spænder fra barokmusik og klassisk orkestermusik til 90’ernes rock og klubmusik.

Udover sit soloarbejde er hun aktiv freelancer og medlem af Damkapellet og Wolfskin Ensemble. Hendes debutalbum Kronblade blev udgivet i oktober 2024 på det London-baserede pladeselskab Permanent Draft.
