On Friday the 12th of August we're diving into the wonderful world of instrumental music with the spiritual jazz-goes-kraut-rock quintet Nausia and the playful melodic jazz-duo Dynastiet. The shows will take place in Byens Lys as part of this years Frigjort Festival. Free entry with a partout wristband for the festival!

NAUSIA is a Copenhagen-based quintet with musical roots in kraut rock, spiritual jazz and minimalism. With the various inspirations, the band draws their very own transcendent musical landscape, which contains both noisy surfaces and delicate singable melodies. At the end of 2020, Nausia released their debut album 'Prince Kiosk' both digitally and as vinyl. The album received positive publicity both at home and abroad, and also resulted in a DMA Jazz nomination as "New Name of the Year".

About the album T.S. Høeg (free jazz pioneer, author etc.) wrote in Jazz Special that "Nausia throws itself both bravely and tentatively into a self-proclaimed kraut-jazz universe with the invocation of ambient or repetitive minimalism, which slowly captures a violent stream of progressive or no-wave energy and then eases the pressure into the air before the law of gravity brings them back to the starting point.”

Nausia recorded their second album in the spring and have just released their first single for the upcoming album. Also their performance at this year's SPOT Festival was nothing less but outstanding - so buckle up and get ready for a spectacular ride on their spaceship of instrumental jazz!

DYNASTIET is a sibling constellation featuring two of the most distinctive "voices" in Danish jazz. With a background from bands such as Girls in Airports, Traveling Tribes, Caktus and Køs, Maria and Victor Dybbroe have together created a sensuous soundscape that mixes strong melodic lines with impulsive energy from free jazz and circular rhythmic sequences. Playfully easy, they move intuitively from the improvised to the shaped - from the acoustic to the manipulated.

Their first single "In Our Garden" was released on Barefoot Records in December last year and more music is on the way. Catch them for the first time in Copenhagen at this year's Frigjort Festival!
