𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐀𝐋 𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐔𝐀𝐆𝐄 is an intentional club space where we can move freely, without judgment, and express ourselves in a safe and intimate environment. Inspired by the early era of underground dance and club culture originating in the US, we aim to bring club dance forms such as house, voguing and whacking back into the clubs, while simultaneously opening up the space for anyone to move and release.

𝐒𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐒𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒 are a series of club evenings in homage to the long tradition of queer-centered Sunday dance parties in NYC and Chicago. Come as you are, everybody is welcome and appreciated.

• The event starts with a guided movement session — tuning into the club environment together, moving, interacting and releasing together on the dance floor. It's about finding a common ground and energy together, exploring the club as a conscious space for movement and expression.
• After that, we will transition into an intimate club space with live DJ sets ranging between house, disco, ballroom and related dance music genres.
• Everyone is welcome, and no prior experience in dance or movement practice is required. We aim to provide a welcoming space for everyone who is curious to explore alternative club spaces.
• Please be mindful of the community guidelines at all times.

𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗿
The dance floor is for dancing. We aim to create a space for freedom of expression. Therefore, please do not use any phones or cameras on the dance floor. If you need to use your phone for any reason, move to the outside areas. Also, please keep conversations on the dance floor to a minimum and have longer conversations in the outside areas. Help us keep the space for people who really want to dance, and refrain from any behavior that disrupts the intimacy and flow.
𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲
Any violent, racist, sexist, classist, ableist, body-shaming, homophobic and/or transphobic behavior or harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. If anything or anyone makes you or anyone else feel unsafe, do not hesitate to reach out to the staff or hosts at anytime, and they will help you out. A club space is a community space. As a community we are responsible for taking care of each other.
𝗖𝘆𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀
A cypher is a freestyle dance jam where an open circle is forming and people take turns dancing in the center. Feel free to try it and cheer each other, watch others dance or just keep dancing outside the cypher.
If a cypher forms, it is not reserved for trained dancers. Dancing in the cypher is open for everyone, and can be a special moment of exhilaration and release. Be mindful of the size of the cypher, since it can take up space from other people who don't want to participate and might feel intimidated.

The European club culture is built on labor and artistry of the queer Black and Latinx community, which developed a music and dance culture predominantly in New York, Chicago and Detroit in the 1980s, that was all about self-expression, body language and spiritual connection on the dance floor. One of the major driving forces of the early club era was house culture and music, unifying all kinds of original club and street dance forms, privileging self-expression and a non-judgmental attitude. Club culture is about coming together, community, genuine connection on the dance floor, being locked into the music. It’s all about release.
