We are super excited to be working with emerging installation artists on an event which offers something quite different to the traditional ‘club night’ that we usually host. Culture Box opens its doors to visual and interactive art with a debut installation entitled Natural Connection.

Natural Connection is an interactive experience inviting you to engage in multi-sensory communication with fungi’s interconnected root system — Mycelium. Enter the dark and mysterious space to discover your way through an enlarged web of threads occupying Black Box. The room will immerse you in pulses of light and sounds recorded directly from a set of mushrooms connected to a modular synthesizer reverberating throughout the room.

Where: Culture Box, Black Box
Kronprinsessegade 54, 1306 København

When: October 19 - 21
Time: 17:00 - 21:00

Entry: 50DKK
Pay at the door

Artists:

Lukas Keysell is a creator of many things and the creation of Natural Connection was a research project he undertook for his Master Thesis in Design at the Royal Danish Academy, this spring. The outcome is the result of half a year's research and experimentation, in which the team skillfully disseminated their discoveries into an interactive experience.

Olivia Brix is a versatile artist bridging performance with audio-visual arts. Through exploration of form and shape, Olivia plays on the notion of the interconnectedness of all things. Olivia and Lukas often work closely on interweaving projects, expanding from collaborative performances to traditional painting and sculpture.

Thomas McGrath is an Artist and Designer based in Caterham, UK. His practice focuses on the creation of immersive visual experiences and design for electronic music. Using his modular synthesizer, Thomas has poetically given voice to the mushrooms by recording electrical currents running through them.
