Copenhagen, Denmark
Concert
Thursday 10th of November 2022
19:00 to 23:00
Free
I/O aims to bring together a community of modular-enthusiast musicians, and give them the possibility to both meet, share and perform.
We organise concerts in Denmark which may host hybrid performances blending instruments, visuals or other performing arts, yet always featuring a modular instrument on stage. I/O intend to open spaces for sonic experimentation, immersive listening, and adventurous soundscapes exploration.
We hope these happenings may provoke and inspire diverse forms of both artistic and human encounters.
We welcome any one of you, input-output freaks, or patching-virgins to join this adventure.
Event is free.
We hope to see you there

Modular synthesist, sound designer and painter from Aarhus. Jens’s music is most often built up over a field recording, so that each track contains the story and feeling of a place, thus creating a place where the listener and musician can meet. Jens’s latest release “Chiba” from 2021, takes its name from the Japanese city that Jens visited in 2019. He was invited there by the Japanese artist group 目[mé] to perform as part of their installation “Obviously, no one can make heads nor tails”.

Julie Østengaard is a sound artist and composer who works with electronically produced music. In her works she examines how the electronic sound can assume physical form and interact with its audience. Through technology and electronic musical instruments, Østengaard explores new ways of performing the electronic sound. In addition to her solo projects, she works on collaborative projects, where performing arts, visual art and sound art melts into experimental constellations.
For this upcoming concert, Julie Østengaard will perform a part improvised set on her modular system.

Luca Manti is an Italian/Danish sound artist based in Copenhagen. His practice spans a wide range of sonic exploration, through genres like musique concrète, electro-acoustic music, experimental etc. After roaming in the world of jazz and free jazz, as an upright bass player, he dived into modular systems. His compositions blend samples and digital sound, opening up vivid sonic spaces, sometimes morphing into dramatic textural territories. His experiments with mechanics, sculptures or broken electronics softly infuse his musical world, and his search for aesthetic forms and endemic textures. Luca has recently being featured in the podcast “Source Of Uncertainty”.
