ALICE har inviteret seks kreative og visionære stemmer fra den lokale og internationale musikscene til at kuratere hver deres version af en klubaften på ALICE i foråret 2025. Kom med og få en fornemmelse af den afrikanske diasporas innovative elektroniske musikscene, når Nyege Nyege tager magten over dansegulvet på ALICE.

Nyege Nyege – som på Ugandas hovedsprog ganda betyder ”en ubændig trang til at danse” – er både et pladeselskab, et kollektiv og en festarrangør, der driver en ekstatisk festival i et forladt turistresort ved Nilens flodbred. Over en årrække har Nyege Nyege gjort Kampala til et brændpunkt for samtidens mest nyskabende elektroniske musik; i den østafrikanske region såvel som globalt.
Nyege Nyege samler lokal undergrundsmusik fra gaden og klubberne såvel som forunderlige lyde fra hele den afrikanske diaspora, som trap, footwork, tanzaniansk polyrytmik, ugandisk bryllupssang og hård trance. Det fremadsynende kollektiv og pladeselskab satte sidste år rammerne for en fantastisk fest under ALICEs åbningsuge i september. Vi er glade for igen at kunne byde dem velkommen til en aften i den elektroniske dansemusiks tegn, når Nyege Nyege præsenterer duoen Sisso & Maiko og DJ Catu Diosis.

Sisso & Maiko
Lynhurtige beats, traditionel tanzaniansk musik, sydafrikansk afro house og satiriske sangtekster om alt fra et korrupt politi til at date, når du er flad. Det er indbegrebet af singeli – den hektiske og legesyge musikgenre, som opstod i arbejderklassenabolagene Tandale og Manzese omkring Dar es Salaam i midten af nullerne. Sisso & Maiko er kendt som fornyere af genren, hvor det sjældent kan gå hurtigt nok. Forbered dig på et dansegulv i febervildelse, når Sisso & Maiko går på ALICEs scene!

DJ Catu Diosis
Catu Diosis er ikke bare DJ, hun er en visionær: Den ugandiske producer, rapper og DJ med base i Uganda og Tyskland fusionerer afrocentriske lyde med bastung, global undergrund og griber publikums opmærksomhed med energifyldte performances. I tillæg til sin musik står Catu Diosis bag Dope Gal Africa (DGA) – en organisation der støtter og udvikler kvindelige og femme talenter fra Afrika og den afrikanske diaspora. Før har hun blandt andet optrådt på Fusion, CTM festival i Berlin og selvfølgelig til Nyege Nyeges festival – og nu endelig på ALICE!

Kom og dans til alt fra hurtig batida og tranceagtig gqom til kontemporær dansk undergrund, når vi åbner koncertsalen for parallelle dansegulve i foråret 2025. Vi har inviteret seks kreative og visionære stemmer fra den lokale og internationale musikscene til at kuratere hver deres version af en klubaften på ALICE. Programmet bliver offentliggjort løbende. ALICE has invited six creative and visionary voices from the local and international music scene to curate their own version of a club night at ALICE in the spring of 2025. Join us for a glimpse of the African diaspora’s innovative electronic music scene as Nyege Nyege takes over the dance floor at ALICE.

Nyege Nyege — meaning "an uncontrollable urge to dance" in Uganda’s main language, Ganda — is more than just a record label; it’s a collective and a party organizer that runs an ecstatic festival at an abandoned tourist resort on the banks of the Nile. Over the years, Nyege Nyege has turned Kampala into a hotspot for some of the most groundbreaking electronic music of today—both in the East African region and on a global scale.

Nyege Nyege brings together underground sounds from the streets and clubs alongside eclectic influences from the African diaspora, spanning genres like trap, footwork, Tanzanian polyrhythms, Ugandan wedding songs, and hard trance. Last year, this forward-thinking collective and record label set the stage for an unforgettable party during ALICE’s opening week in September. We are thrilled to welcome them back for another night dedicated to electronic dance music, as Nyege Nyege presents the duo Sisso & Maiko and DJ Catu Diosis.

Sisso & Maiko
Lightning-fast beats, traditional Tanzanian music, South African afro house, and satirical lyrics about everything from corrupt police to dating while broke — this is the essence of singeli, the frantic and playful genre that emerged in the working-class neighborhoods of Tandale and Manzese around Dar es Salaam in the mid-2000s. Sisso & Maiko are known as pioneers of the genre, where speed is key and faster is always better. Prepare for a dance floor in a state of frenzy when Sisso & Maiko take the stage at ALICE!

DJ Catu Diosis
Catu Diosis is more than just a DJ—she’s a visionary. The Ugandan producer, rapper, and DJ, who splits her time between Uganda and Germany, fuses Afrocentric sounds with bass-heavy, global underground music and captivates audiences with her high-energy performances. In addition to her music, Catu Diosis is the founder of Dope Gal Africa (DGA), an organization that supports and develops female and femme talent from Africa and the African diaspora. She has previously performed at Fusion, CTM Festival in Berlin, and, of course, at Nyege Nyege Festival—and now, finally, at ALICE!
