𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐀𝐋 𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐔𝐀𝐆𝐄 is an intentional club space where we can move freely, without judgment, and express ourselves in a safe, sober and intimate environment. Inspired by the early era of underground dance and club culture originating in the US, we aim to bring club dance forms such as house, voguing and whacking back into the clubs, while simultaneously opening up the space for anyone to move and release.
𝐒𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐒𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒 are a series of club evenings in homage to the long tradition of queer-centered, communal Sunday dance parties in NYC and the Midwest US. Come as you are, everybody is welcome and appreciated.

The dance floor is for dancing. Please do not use phones or cameras on the dance floor. If you need to use your phone for any reason, move to the outside areas. Keep conversations on the dance floor to a minimum and have longer conversations in the outside areas. Help us keep the space for people who really want to dance.

Any violent, racist, sexist, classist, ableist, body-shaming, homophobic and/or transphobic behavior or harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. If anything or anyone makes you or anyone else feel unsafe, do not hesitate to reach out to the hosts at any time, and they will help you out. A club space is a community space. As a community we are responsible for taking care of each other.
𝗖𝘆𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀
A cypher is a freestyle dance jam where an open circle forms, and people take turns dancing in the center. Feel encouraged to try it, cheer each other on, or just keep dancing outside of it. Cyphers are not reserved for trained dancers; they can hold a special moment of exhilaration and release for anyone, regardless of their background and experience.
𝐑𝐎𝐎𝐓𝐒 & 𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐏𝐈𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍
Our event is rooted in the rich history of underground club culture, which was born out of the artistic expression and resilience of queer Black and Latinx communities in 1980s New York, Chicago, and Detroit. One of the driving forces of the early club era was house culture and music, unifying all kinds of original club and street dance forms, privileging self-expression, community, and the freedom to be oneself on the dance floor. Inspired by this legacy, we aim to cultivate the essence and relevance of club culture, while paying sincere respect to the original scenes and their creators.
