We are very excited for this exhibition.
We have put her together Kay Yoon and Thea Djurhuus. Both artists work and examine organic form in a sci-fi universe. Thea and Kay have never met each other before. They have collaborated on this exhibition through zoom meetings. So what you will see in this exhibition, is a well constructed installation from the two artists.

Kay Yoon works with various mediums, primarily in sculpture and installation, as well as drawing, performance, and media art. Her multidisciplinary practice is essentially grounded in conceptual art and revolves around the reflections on spatial design concepts and the absurdity that emerges in their interactions with natural spaces and materials. In a search of better understanding in the contemporary surroundings, she often borrows the language of nature and the reminisces of her cultural experiences shaped by a mixture of traditions, conservatism, self- censorship, and pop culture. Among these experiences, she gathers the paradoxical dynamics of their relations to our bodies and playfully transcends them into her minimalistic and often uncanny aesthetics.

Kay Yoon is currently enrolled in the last semester of the Diploma degree at Sculpture Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Prof. Alexandra Bircken. She has previously studied Media Art at the Academy of Fine Art in Leipzig and Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg under Prof. Michael Sailstorfer and Prof. Ottmar Hörl.

Her works have been exhibited internationally, amongst others at CICA Museum in Seoul (2017), PrimaKunst in Stadtgalerie Kiel (2018), The Art Foundation Athens (2019), AO Kunsthalle Leipzig (2019), Baumwollspinnerei Leipzig (2020) Kunstpavillon München (2021) Projektraum 145 Berlin (2021) and her recent solo exhibitions at 4D Projektraum BBk Leipzig (2021) and Sic! Elephanthouse Luzern (2021) Sent from my iPhone

Thea Djurhuus works primarily with sculptural ceramics. Her work revolves around intimacy as physical, but also relational - both romantic, friendly and familiar. Intimate spaces hold a paradox as they are private, yet they are being extremely politicized by society based on normative assumptions or ideals. Thereby intimacy can also be associated with great complexity, challenges, anxiety, doubt or disappointment. Djurhuus is looking to explore both vulnerability and strength within the realm of intimacy.

Thea Djurhuus finished her BA in 2021 from the Royal Academy after living and studying 3 years at Bornholm. She is currently living and working in Copenhagen.
