EXCELSIOR

ENGLISH
EXCELSIOR
Anja T. Lahrmann is a Danish composer, producer and musician performing as Excelsior since 2015. She released her debut EP Superimposed in 2017 followed by the album O Horizon in 2019.
The 26th of August her new release Fit For Fiction hits the internet; a progressive and hybrid pop world full of songs about surrender, the calm of nature and tales about women throughout our cultural history.
The voice is often the heart of Lahrmann’s body of work. She approaches composition as narrative sequences in which vocal structures, melodic lines and chords unfold alongside chains of digital processing like small paths in a landscape.
Having developed her musical persona by positioning herself amongst varying constellations of musicians, she tends to see herself more as a collaborator than a frontwoman bouncing openly against the borders of collectivism and DIY.
KAREN JUHL
Karen Juhl is a songwriter and artist based in Copenhagen. Under her former artist name KHAN, she released the audiovisual work OCCUPY via the prestigious British blog the 405.
In January she released her debut EP ‘Endless’; a mixed media hybrid called “an incredible piece of experimental pop touching the listener and simultaneously expanding the limits of sound creation” by Metal Magazine.
About the Endless, she says:
“Endless emerged out of a need to explore the digitalized world streaming on and a life that just seems to float along.” The songs have aired on both Danish National Radio and abroad. The visual part of the work can be found on her homepage.
With equal parts love for r’n’b, experimental composition and literature, Juhl explores what songwriting can be in the 21st Century - inspired by artists like Laurie Anderson, Solange and Holly Herndon. On stage her create universe unfolds as a deconstructed club performance with live drums, synthesizer, guitar, and laptop.
Karen Juhl has previously been nominated as one of the most promising Danish artists by magazine Soundvenue. In addition to Endless, she is working on her debut album. In other words, there are good reasons to keep an eye on Karen Juhl.
