Jenny Lewis, Bon Iver og Lambchop, modtog roser i medier såsom Pitchfork, The Quietus og God is in the TV. “I can make a radio break” synger Haley Fohr på det storladne, dansable og Depeche Mode-agtige nummer “Canopy of Eden” fra ‘Halo on the inside’.
“She wrote the album alone, under the blanket of night. It’s a lonely record about indiscernible metamorphosis, drawing on a more heavily electronic palette than ever before. It’s Circuit des Yeux by way of industrial dance music: sludgy, colossal, and teeming with darkness.” – Reanna Cruz i Pitchfork (Om ‘Halo on the Inside’).
“Halo on the Inside is an album that could only be made well into an established career, by an artist given the time to explore and the budget to pull off their lofty ambition. In that spirit, it’s a case study of what can be done when following your creative impulses without restriction. While there’s impressive heft to the arrangements and endless layers to unpick, the greatest treasures come from inside its creator.” – Skye Butchard i The Quietus (Om ‘Halo on the Inside’)

In English:
Circuit des Yeux sings with an almost unsettling presence. The Chicago-based musician, composer, and multidisciplinary artist is known for her raw vocals. Her voice spans several octaves but doesn’t just stick to the melody. Animalistic bleats and elemental wails also find their way into Circuit des Yeux’s intense, dark, and industrial pop.
Haley Fohr, the Chicago-based musician, composer, and multidisciplinary artist behind the moniker Circuit des Yeux, possesses a vocal expression that’s hard to shake. Her voice stretches not only across four octaves but also across melodic hooks, animalistic bleats, and elemental wails. It’s no wonder her voice is at the heart of Circuit des Yeux’s maximalist, musical universe, which draws on psychedelic folk, dramatic rock, avant-garde elements, orchestral compositions, electronic textures, and jazz improvisation. Haley Fohr sings with a presence that borders on the eerie. ALICE has had the pleasure of hosting her on our stage multiple times, and we are absolutely thrilled to welcome this ever-evolving artist once again!
In March, Circuit des Yeux released the album ‘Halo on the Inside’ on Matador Records. In different ways, the songs on the album explore themes of metamorphosis and change. Produced by Andrew Broder, who has also collaborated with artists such as Jenny Lewis, Bon Iver, and Lambchop, the album received praise from media outlets like Pitchfork, The Quietus, and God is in the TV. When Circuit des Yeux performed at Roskilde Festival in 2017, her concert was recommended by Politiken, which compared her to both Nico and Nina Hagen, and Weekendavisen highlighted it as one of the festival’s standout moments. “I can make a radio break,” she sings on the grand, danceable, Depeche Mode-esque track “Canopy of Eden” from ‘Halo on the Inside’. Is it a dark premonition, or perhaps a melancholy reflection? See if you can find the answer when the dark angel Circuit des Yeux descends upon our concert hall.
