In a damp basement room at Medical Museion, fungi grow out of discarded medical books and wax moth larvae eat collected plastic waste from laboratories.

The Living Room is a living experiment working across conservation, artistic practice and humanities research to rethink the definite of objects at museums. Museums usually work to avoid outbreaks of catastrophic cultural heritage eateries. Humidity, temperature and light are monitored and adjusted to avoid, for example, larvae and mold getting ideal living conditions in our valuable collections. But what if we not only see cultural heritage sites as a threat, but also as potential partners?

Come to the opening of The Living Room at the Medical Museum. It is free and requires no registration.
