Join us for the final Bar X of the year, where spellchestra, the Copenhagen-based operatic roleplaying ensemble, will take over AHC and present us with the second episode in season one of their serial musical theatre.
The spellchestra returns, after registering a collective threat in episode 1 of the season, “at the undeleting event”: the force and virus of Terminus, the divine divider, the deity of private property, is looming in the collective consciousness of the bards, threatening to destabilize their gathering. To understand and confront this force, the spellchestra now assemble in the borderland between the public and private, where a powerful enough joke and the resulting choir of laughter could potentially subvert power structures: at the marketplace…
Spellchestra is Oliver Laumann, Stine Victoria Hyun, Arte Carlander, Simin Stine Ramezanali, Tettix Hexer, Mija Milovic & h hartvig.

ABOUT SPELLCHESTRA
spellchestra is a Copenhagen-based operatic roleplaying ensemble directed by composer h hartvig (they/them). It is the continuation and expansion of spellcaster, the project behind the two critically acclaimed albums “Inventory” (Visage, 2019), and “memo, an opera in 9 scenes” (Anyines, 2022), alongside numerous single releases, collaborative multimedia projects and live performances.
Informed by an experimental approach to the opera genre, notions of the bard figure and game engines as generative composition tools, the project is concerned with questions of temporality, memory, communication, materialism, magic and community raised by music and stories. the ensemble performs serial musical theatre based on the game engine “the mem.mel.-engine”, spawned out of the spellcaster storyworld.
