NyKlang is an initiative for (and with!) the emerging generation of Danish composers. The participants are composition students from all over the country and the participation requirement is that they have yet to attend the music conservatory. The young composers are brought together by composer, teacher, and project coordinator Daniel Fladmose. The composers work in groups and the dogma is that they are responsible for the performance of the music themselves. Along the way, they have, in addition to Fladmose himself, worked together with mentors Cornelia Karlsson and Jens Rønsholdt, who study composition at the music conservatory, and for whom the performative aspect of music plays a significant role. It is almost impossible to predict what will happen, but what is certain is that NyKlang is an enormously exciting insight into what the compositional music of the future may sound like.
