TENGGER (kr/jp)
Prepare for a spiritual experience with the Japanese-Korean family band and their drone music!
TENGGER is a traveling musical family, made up of Pan-Asian couple, ITTA (from South Korea) and MARQIDO (from Japan), who create their brand of psychedelic New-Age drone magic through the use of Voice, Indian harmonium, and Toy instruments (played by ITTA) and synths & electronics (played by MARQIDO).
The duo originally started out with the moniker “10” but since the birth of their son RAAI (who joins them on tour and playing Voice, Synth, Toy Instrument, Dance performance on stage) in 2012, have called themselves TENGGER (meaning ‘unlimited expanse of sky’ in Mongolian) to mark the expansion of the family. It also means ‘huge sea’ in Hungarian.
Travel, a spiritual experience in real environments, and the sound between the space and the audience have been central themes of their works. The family’s yearly pilgrimages inform every aspect of their art.
Pitchfork: "From field recordings to Krautrock to something they call 'aural hang-gliding', TENGGER have truly begun to put their stamp on psychedelic music."
Uncut Magazine: "There's a level of detail in TENGGER's music that sets them apart from other drone artists, sounds nimbly woven together rather than painted in broad brushstrokes."
Bandcamp Daily: "...like stepping through a glowing portal and gasping at the wonders of another world”
Stereogum: "Their shimmering synthesizers and reverberant chants invoke the most ethereal end of krautrock..."
Turist (dk)
Mix a bunch of Casio keyboards with Geisha singing, video game scores and SPA music, add polaroid pictures from 80’s charter vacations, and you have the recipe for TURIST's music.
Though not easily squeezed into genres, the sounds from pianist and composer Rasmus Kjær’s synthesizers have an alluring radiance. Whether you call it kraut, psyc, synth improvisations or ‘Jazz played on...cheap synthesizers!’ (as Polish magazine JazzPRESS put it), Turist presents a constant urge to explore – just like a real tourist.
The beginning of TURIST came when Rasmus Kjær released the award-winning synth album Turist in 2019. He soon started performing live under the stage name TURIST playing in Denmark, Poland, and Japan.
An experienced musician, Rasmus Kjær has toured the US and Europe with renowned band Under Byen as well as Klimaforandringer and SVIN and has released two acoustic improvisational albums (Broken Bow featuring Kresten Osgood and Jonas Westergaard and the organ solo Orgelimprovisationer). He also paid tribute to the multidimensional drummer Jerome Cooper and the album For Jerome. All this gave him a reputation for being a delicately sensitive and risk-taking pianist.

TENGGER (kr/jp)
"TENGGER was the most magical of all the performances I watched."- Bob Boilen (NPR Tiny Desk, All Songs Considered).
Turist (dk)
