On August 22nd, Ark Books is delighted to host author Celina Baljeet Basra for a book reception and discussion centered around her debut novel, Happy.
A little bit about Celina and her work:
Celina Baljeet Basra is a writer and cultural worker based in Berlin. She is also the founder of the Department of Love, a curatorial collective. Her debut novel, Happy, has received rave reviews, described as a "daring feat of postmodern literature" and praised by the New York Times Book Review as "Bighearted" and an "Editor’s Choice/Staff Pick."
Happy follows the journey of Happy Singh Soni, a Punjabi farmer whose big dreams face unexpected challenges after he emigrates to Europe. The novel explores themes of global migration, displacement, and the politics of labor within the food industry.
The event will feature a combined reading and moderated discussion, followed by a Q&A session.
Beers, non-alcoholic beverages, and snacks are provided for the evening.
We welcome any contributions to support future events.
Limited copies of Happy will also be on sale.
We look forward to seeing you all!
