Nova Varnrable:
Med glitches former Nova Varnrable gribende fortællinger. Den etiopisk-norske kunstner og musikproducer med base i København, er internationalt kendt for sin eksperimenterende elektroniske musik. Hendes sange bevæger sig gennem et spektrum af lyde, der bryder genrer, bygger scenarier op, samt udforsker kompositionens muligheder. Slagtøj, samples, liveinstrumenter og vokaler smelter sammen til ét, forførende hele. Med sin musik omfavner Nova Varnrable det, som findes mellem sprækkerne, og falder uden for: Hendes musik er en invitation ind i en anden verden på nye præmisser.
Nova Varnrable har en flydende tilgang til form og udtryk. Denne tilgang strækker sig på tværs af hendes tværfaglige arbejde og spænder over film, kunst, mode og liveoptræden. Hun har udgivet musik på labels som 5 Gate Temple (UK) og D.O.T Audioarts (US). Seneste samarbejder tæller projekter med Dean Blunt og Authentically Plastic samt bidrag til mode- og filmprojekter og lydværker til dokumentarer og kunstudstillinger. Nova Varnrable har spillet på blandt andet Roskilde Festival, Øhavet Festival og senest på Café OTO i London. Vi glæder os til at byde Nova Varnrable velkommen på vores scene.
Nadah El Shazly:
Den egyptiske sangerinde og komponist Nadah El Shazly er en af hovedskikkelserne på den eksperimenterende musikscene i Cairo. Hun forener rødder fra den traditionelle arabiske musik med moderne jazz, elektronik og eksperimenterende rock, og for den genreblanding, og for hendes fortryllende vokaler og avant-garde arrangementer, har hun vundet fans verden over. Som helt ung begik Nadah El Shazly sig på den egyptiske punkscene, inden hun begyndte at eksperimentere med elektronisk musik. I 2017 brød hun igennem med det overdådige album ‘Ahwar’, som modtog fremragende anmeldelser og havnede bl.a. på en prominent 12. plads på The Wires liste over årets album. Og i juni udkom den længe ventede efterfølger ‘Laini Tani’.
‘Laini Tani’, der også er blevet taget godt imod af anmelderne, formidler en følelse af lune nætter, der strækker sig og bliver til morgendag. Albummet har nemlig den her sensuelle, men flygtige stemning over sig. På ‘Laini Tani’ væver Nadah El Shazly egyptisk improvisation, stemmemanipulation og elektroniske beats sammen til kunstnerisk udtryk, som omfavner både sårbarhed og sætter en stor fed streg under musikkens forunderlige kraft. Nadah El Shazly har spillet på ALICE i 2019 og i 2022, og i år kunne man også opleve hende på Roskilde Festival, hvor hun fik væggene på Gloria til at dirre og al sniksnak i hjørnerne til at ophøre. Med andre ord havde hun publikum i sin hule hånd! Nadah El Shazly formår nemlig at forene en klubbet koncertoplevelse med et enormt stort nærvær – og derfor ser vi så meget frem til igen at præsentere den banebrydende, elektroniske musiker tilbage på vores scene!

Nova Varnrable:
Nova Varnrable tells stories through glitches. With base in Copenhagen, the Ethiopian/Norwegian artist and music producer is known internationally for her experimental, electronic music. Her songs roam through a spectrum of sounds, unbound by genre, constructing scenarios and exploring the possibilities of composition. Percussion, samples, live instruments, and vocals are woven into a dynamic landscape of electronic production. At the core of Nova Varnrable’s practice is a fluid approach to form and output, where sketches, improvisations, and completed works merge into a seductive collage of sound. In her music, Nova Varnrable embraces inbetweenness and otherness. It’s an invitation into a world that redefines what's already existing.
Nova Varnrable’s fluid approach extends across her multidisciplinary work, spanning film, art, fashion, and live performance. Nova has released music on labels including 5 Gate Temple (UK) and D.O.T Audioarts (US). Recent collaborations include projects with Dean Blunt and Authentically Plastic , as well as contributions to fashion and film projects, and sound compositions for documentaries and art exhibitions. Nova Varnrable has played at Roskilde Festival, Øhavet Festival, among others – and recently at Café OTO in London. We can't wait to welcome the unpredictable electronic artist to our stage!
Nadah El Shazly:
The Egyptian singer and composer Nadah El Shazly is one of the leading figures on Cairo’s experimental scene. She fuses the roots of traditional Arabic music with modern jazz, electronics, and experimental rock. And with that blend of genres, along with her enchanting vocals and avant-garde arrangements, she has won fans across the globe. Nadah El Shazly started out as a part of Egypt’s punk scene before turning her focus to electronic music. In 2017, she broke through with the lavish album ‘Ahwar’, which received rave reviews and landed at number 12 on The Wire’s list of the year’s best albums. This June, she released its long-awaited follow-up, ‘Laini Tani’.
‘Laini Tani’, which has also been warmly received by critics, conveys a sense of balmy nights stretching on into the morning. The album carries a sensual yet elusive atmosphere. On Laini Tani, Nadah El Shazly weaves Egyptian improvisation, vocal manipulation, and electronic beats into an artistic expression that embraces vulnerability while powerfully underlining the wondrous force of music. Nadah El Shazly has previously performed at ALICE in 2019 and 2022, and this year she also appeared at Roskilde Festival. She made the walls of the Gloria-stage tremble and silenced all chatter in the corners. In other words, she had the audience in the palm of her hand! Nadah El Shazly has a unique ability to combine the intensity of a club-like concert experience with an immense sense of intimacy – and that is why we are so excited to once again present this groundbreaking electronic musician on our stage!
