Der bliver rappet, skreget, hvisket, jublet, sukket og sunget i hendes mest personlige projekt til dato. Vi taler om den prisvindende vibrafonist, komponist og bandleder Viktoria Søndergaard. Musikeren, der især har markeret sig på jazzscenen, står bag Viktoria Søndergaard SECRETS – et legende, kollektivt og kompromisløst musikalsk univers, hvori genrer opløses og hvor ord for første gang får plads i Viktoria Søndergaards kompositioner. Musikken trækker på nogle ret forskellige inspirationskilder. Fra jazz, kammermusik og pop, til rap, Sukuma-musik, skandinavisk tone, cabaret og højskolesangbogen. I gruppens musik får alle mulige stemmer altså plads – også dem, man sjældent hører sammen. Og derfor er Viktoria Søndergaard SECRETS så vidunderligt et bekendtskab. For musikken føles som en invitation til at lytte på en helt ny måde.
Viktoria Søndergaard SECRETS består af fem stærke musikere fra den danske scene. Ud over kapelmesteren selv tæller bandet Elvira Skovsang, Øyunn, Ida Duelund og Frederik Blæsild Vuust. Viktoria Søndergaard har tidligere markeret sig med gruppen BARYL og duoen SMUK ZVUK (med tjekkiske Klára Pudláková) og har samarbejdet med navne som Marilyn Mazur, DR’s Big Band, Smag På Dig Selv og Tivolis Ensemble. Hun har modtaget en lang række priser, bl.a. Aarhus Jazz Talentpris 2022, Tivolis Jazzpris 2022, Roager Legatet 2024 samt Carl Prisens ærespris-check i 2025. Viktoria Søndergaard og resten af bandet aktuel med albummet ‘Music of Secrets’, som udkom 17. oktober. In the project SECRETS, award-winning vibraphonist Viktoria Søndergaard introduces words into her compositions for the very first time. The music, which draws on everything from jazz and rap to the Danish folk songbook, is performed – alongside the bandleader herself – by a group of strong voices from the Danish music scene. There’s rapping, shouting, whispering, cheering, sighing, and singing in what is her most personal project to date. We’re talking about the award-winning vibraphonist, composer, and bandleader Viktoria Søndergaard – a musician who has made her mark especially on the jazz scene. She stands behind Viktoria Søndergaard SECRETS: a playful, collective, and uncompromising musical universe where genres dissolve. And where words, for the first time, find a place in her compositions. The music draws on a wide range of inspirations. From jazz, chamber music, and pop to rap, Sukuma music, the Nordic tonal tradition, cabaret, and the Danish folk songbook. In this group’s music, every kind of voice has space – even those rarely heard together. That’s what makes Viktoria Søndergaard SECRETS such a wonderful encounter. The music feels like an invitation to listen in a completely new way.
Viktoria Søndergaard SECRETS features five outstanding musicians from the Danish scene. Alongside the bandleader herself, the group includes Elvira Skovsang, Øyunn, Ida Duelund, and Frederik Blæsild Vuust.
